Microsoft Excel Security Tips

For Excel 2007, you need only enable the VBA content each time you open Excel.

For Excel 2003 Excel’s Macro security level must be set to “Medium” to enable the use of VBA forms and tools, because Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is used extensively in all of our models to provide instruction and examples. Early VBA viruses prompted Microsoft to create the security feature and to set it on “High” as the initial configuration, automatically blocking any file with VBA. The “Medium” setting will notify the user if VBA is attached to an Excel file, and provide the option to enable or disable the macros (VBA).

To set VBA to “Medium” security:

  1. Open Excel
  2. On the “Tools” Menu, select “Macro”
  3. On the “Macro” sub-menu, select “Security…”
  4. On the “Security” pop-up box, select the “Security Settings” tab
  5. Click the “Medium” setting option button
  6. Click the “OK” button

This resets the security setting permanently, unless and until the same procedure is used to reset it again. ROI-Team certifies our products to be free of viruses when downloaded from our web site, but cannot certify them if they are from any other source because it is possible to modify them.
